  1. About the files on this disk:

  3. The OS/2 Installation disk contains two directories:
  4.  
  5. 1)  \SVR_SVC  which includes the server service install 
  6.           program and the OS/2 services.  
  7.  
  8. 2)  \BJ_CLNT  which includes BLACKJAC.EXE and CARDS.DLL.
  9.  
  10. The INSTALL.EXE program in the \SVR_SVC directory is a 
  11. Windows program that installs the included services on remote 
  12. OS/2 LAN Manager servers.  The BJSVR.EXE and PERFSVR.EXE 
  13. files in the SRV_SVC directory are the OS/2 LAN Manager services.  
  14. These services are used in conjunction with the Windows 
  15. applications included in the toolkit such as the performance 
  16. meter, the alarm station, and the blackjack client.  
  17.  
  18. The files in the \BJ_CLNT directory are the client side 
  19. pieces of a blackjack network game.  Install the 
  20. blackjack service on a remote server and then multiple 
  21. Windows clients can play in the same blackjack game.
  22.  
  23. The INSTALL.EXE program does *NOT* copy any files to your 
  24. local computer. It copies the LAN Manager services to the 
  25. remote LAN Manager server you choose. To copy the source code 
  26. and examples (including the client pieces of the blackjack 
  27. game) from this disk to your local hard disk, you can use the 
  28. Windows File Manager.  VBRUN100.DLL must be in your path to 
  29. run the install program.  If you have already installed the 
  30. other disks in the toolkit, VBRUN100.DLL will already be in 
  31. your path.

  33. You run the service install program from Windows.  To start 
  34. Install:
  35.  
  36. 1.      Insert Disk 1 in drive A or B.
  37.  
  38. 2.      In the Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.
  39.  
  40. 3.      Type A:\SVR_SVC\INSTALL.EXE or B:\SVR_SVC\INSTALL.EXE
  41.  
  42. 4.      Follow the Setup instructions in the dialog box on the 
  43. screen.
  44.  
  45. The dialog box provides selection of the remote server and 
  46. which services to install.  You must have administrative 
  47. privilege to be able to install a service.  The dialog also 
  48. includes Install, Auto Start, and Start Now options.  These 
  49. options are described in the following paragraphs.

  51. Install
  52.  
  53. The Installation process modifies the LANMAN.INI file on the 
  54. server.  These changes include the addition of a line in the 
  55. [services] section and the addition of the service name on the 
  56. srvservices line if you select the auto start option.  The 
  57. original LANMAN.INI file is saved as LANMAN.OLD.

  59. Auto Start
  60.  
  61. The auto start option control if the service will start when 
  62. the server service starts.  LAN Manager automatically starts 
  63. the perfsvr service each time the server starts 
  64. if you select this option.   There is a known bug in starting
  65. both the perfsvr service and the blackjack service when the server
  66. starts.  Start the blackjack service using the NET START BLACKJACK
  67. command.

  71. This option starts the service as soon as you install it on 
  72. the server.
